Inauguration of District Jail at Chirang by Hon'ble CM of Assam
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed District Jail at Kajalgaon, Chirang.Key Features:-Built on 38 bighas of land-Capacity for 500 inmates-Separate barracks for male & female inmates-High-security, quarantine & solitary cells-In-house hospitals, vocational workshop & modern kitchen-School-cum-library, yoga & meditation space-Staff accommodation and residential quarters-Multi-layered security with CCTV, watch towers & high-mast lightsThe inaugural event was held at the District Parade Ground, Kajalgaon.The ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Hon’ble Minister; Shri Rupesh Gowala, Hon’ble Minister; Shri Pramod Boro, Hon’ble CEM, BTR; Shri Joyanta Basumatary, Hon’ble MP, Kokrajhar, Shri Rwngwra Narzary, Hon’ble MP, Rajya Sabha; Shri Ajoy Kumar Ray, Hon’ble MLA Bijni; Shri Nirmal Kr. Brahma, Hon’ble MLA, Sidli; Shri Ajay Tewari, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home & Political Department, and Shri Munna Prasad Gupta, IPS, Chairman, Assam Police Housing Corporation Limited.A landmark initiative by the Government of Assam, executed by the Assam Police Housing Corporation, this modern correctional facility is a major step towards infrastructure development and inmate welfare in newly created districts.
