A BRIEF OVERVIEW  OF OFFICE  OF  THE  DISTRICT  TRANSPORT OFFICER  & SECRETARY, RTA, CHIRANG,  KAJALGAON

Earlier District  Transport  Offices across  the State were  under  the control  of Assam Police.Since 1952 the Department  of Transport, Govt.of Assam is the Administrative Authority of over all these District Transport Offices located in each District Headquarters of Assam.The District of Chirang was carved out of then Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon districts under clause 6 of article 332 by the 90th amendment Act, 2003 of the Constitution of lndia with the creation of Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts (BTAD) on the 10th day of February, 2003 between the Bodo Liberation Tiger, Govt. of Assam and Govt. of lndia under the provision of the Sixth Schedule.However, the nomenclature BTAD  has  been  changed  to BTR (Bodoland  Territorial  Region) with the signing of 3rd Bodo Peace Accord on the 27th day  of January,  2020 between Bodo revolutionary groups ( ABSU, Four factions of NDFB, UBPO), Govt. of Assam and  Govt. of lndia.
