24th November, 2022 , in connection with the 400th Birth Anniversary of the Legendary General Lachit Barphukan, the District Level Programme was ceremonially celebrated with great fervour at the District Parade Ground, Kajalgaon as part of the week-long programme organized by the Chirang District Administration. Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, Sri P Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, IAS gave the welcome address, highlighting the programmes undertaken by the District Administration to commemorate the 400th Birth Anniversary of the mighty hero Lachit Barphukan.
25th November, 2022, the week-long programme in connection with the celebration of 400th Birth Anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan comes to an end with the live telecast of Central Programme of Lachit Barphukan's Birth Anniversary from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The central programme was graced by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi Ji, Honorable Governor of Assam ,Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Sri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Honorable Cabinet Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & AYUSH, Govt of India, Sri Sarbananda Sonowal and many other dignitaries.During his speech, PM Modi Ji mentioned that the act of valour shown by Bir Lachit Borphukan at Saraighat was not just an example of unparalleled love for the motherland but he also had the power of uniting the entire Assam region where every citizen was ready to defend the motherland if required.
